Council bestows honour on world famous brothers

The Bee Gees are to be made freemen of the Borough of Douglas.

The honour will be conferred on Barry and Robin Gibb, and the late Maurice, in a ceremony at the town hall on July 10.

Other members of the Gibb family - including Maurice's widow and son, and the Gibb brothers' mother, Barbara - will also be present.

Leader of the Council David Christian says the honour recognises the Bee Gees' extraordinary achievements in music, the fact they were all born in Douglas and the pride they have always shown in their place of birth:
