The new kit for Team Manx Telecom made its official debut on 24th May at the Colin Nelson Mountain Time Trial, when club members had an opportunity to show off their racing gear.
Earlier this year, Manx Telecom became official sponsor of the Manx Road Club, which has been renamed Team Manx Telecom, and the new kit is part of the company’s overall support for the team.
'Looking good is part of feeling good, and that all helps both invidudual and team performance in the end', said Andy Bridson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Manx Telecom. 'Team Manx Telecom are truly professional in everything they do, and we felt it was important that they had the best equipment. Clothing plays such a big part in a demanding sport such as cycling, and we hope the new kit helps spur on everyone who wears it to even greater success.'
First rider off in the Colin Nelson Mountain Time Trial was club Vice President and Manx Telecom employee, Mike Kelly who, in 2008, underwent quadruple bypass surgery at Broadgreen Hospital in Liverpool.
During his recovery Mike also benefited from the facilities at the Isle of Man Coronary Care Rehabilitation Unit at Nobles Hospital, and the Isle of Man Hyperbaric Chamber. Mike is now back in good health and riding his bike more than ever, and to recognise the support that these three facilities provided him during his care and recovery, he decided to do a charity bike ride around the Isle of Man TT Course while also taking part in the Colin Nelson Memorial Mountain Time Trial.
