Final decision on MMR jab left to parents

The director of public health says the MMR vaccine will not be made compulsory in the Isle of Man.

Dr Parameswaran Kishore believes the jab should be given to all children, but accepts the final decision should remain with the parents.

Earlier this week, a former chairman of the British Medical Association called for the vaccination, which protects against measles, mumps and rubella, to be made mandatory.

However, Dr Kishore is warning parents that choosing to pay for single jabs for the three illnesses could be putting their children at risk:
