Children look forward to summer reading challenge

There are only two days left for children to sign up for the Summer Reading Scheme at the Family Library in Douglas.

The scheme encourages youngsters to read five books over the course of the summer holidays, while completing a series of activities.

Last year's challenge was based around pirates, but for now this year's theme is being kept a closely guarded secret!

Librarian in Chief Mary Cousins says reading is a great way to encourage creativity in children:
