McGuinness close to absolute lap record

by isleofman.com 3rd June 2009

Last night's TT practice session took place in ideal conditions, although the start was again delayed while marshals were deployed at various points around the course.

As on Monday evening, 'Morecambe missile' John McGuinness was the fastest solo rider, and he had his own absolute lap record in sight when he completed a flying lap at 129.66 miles an hour.

The record, which he set in 2007, stands at 130.35.

McGuinness seemed quite pleased with how things were going when he spoke to Sure Radio TT (play audio file):

In the sidecars, local duo Nick Crowe and Mark Cox lapped at 115.16 miles an hour, making them the fastest pairing of the week so far.

Dave Molyneux and Daniel Sayle went round at 114.08, which was slightly slower than they managed on Monday.

There will be another practice this evening, with roads around the mountain section closing at 5pm, and the rest of the course an hour later.
