McGuinness sets early pace in practicing

Absolute lap record holder John McGuinness had a successful evening in the first solo practice session for TT 2009.

He managed the fastest lap in the Superbike class, going round the course at 128.06mph, in 18 minutes, 9.38 seconds.

Second quickest was Adrian Archibald at 126.74mph, with local man Conor Cummins third,
at 126.16mph.

In the sidecars Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle were fastest round the circuit with an average speed of 114.69 mph.

Second best were Phil Dongworth and Gary Partridge, at 112.4mph.

Ian Armstrong came off his machine at the 32nd milestone in the solos and was taken to hospital.

There was no word on his condition.
