Switchover help - final reminder goes out

by isleofman.com 1st June 2009

A final reminder is being sent out to people in certain groups that help and advice is still available on the switchover to digital television, which starts later this month.

The BBC scheme - aimed, among others, at local residents aged 75 and over - has been running for some time, but so far only 20 per cent of those eligible have signed up.

The Communications Commission is concerned that some people might get left behind, and is urging anybody who isn't sure how they will be affected, and who hasn't already done so, to get in touch.

Health Minister Eddie Teare is sending out one last reminder in the post, in the next week or so.

The number to ring for help and advice on the switchover to digital television is 0800-408-5901.

The current analogue signals will be switched off from June 18, and the Communications Commission is stressing help will not be available after August 22.
