'It's never too late to report abuse' - police

Police are urging the victims of abuse to come forward, no matter how long ago the offences may have been committed.

On Friday, former army cadet instructor Anthony William Smith of Peel was sentenced to 13 months in jail for assaults on young boys in the 1980s.

Detective Inspector Phil Shimmin of the Public Protection Unit hopes the conviction will give people to confidence to come forward if they have suffered abuse in the past.

He says police deal with all such cases sympathetically:
