Pin on a Pink Helmet for Breast Cancer Charity!

by isleofman.com 29th May 2009

Northern Ireland’s TT rider Davy Morgan has produced replica pin badges of his famous pink helmet which will be on sale throughout the Island in TT week.

At home in Ireland, Davy supports ‘Action Cancer’ a major cancer charity, in particular their Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.

While he is racing on the Island, the shocking pink pin badge will also raise money for local cancer charity Isle of Man Breast Care which is run by ladies who have had cancer themselves and give emotional and practical support to breast cancer patients and their families on the Island.

?1 from every badge sold will go to Isle of Man Breast Care.

Sharon Maddrell, Chairman of Isle of Man Breast Care, said 'We are so chuffed that Davy has chosen our charity to benefit from the sale of the pin badge. Cancer can be a very expensive illness, with treatments lasting up to a year and unfortunately not everyone has a job paying good long-term sick benefits.

The last thing you need to worry about when undergoing often debilitating treatment, is how to pay the bills!

The money raised from the sale of the badges will go towards helping these patients.'

The pin badges, priced ?4.00, will be on sale at Davy’s pit at the back of the TT Grandstand, the newly refurbished Post Shop at Regent Street Post Office, Douglas and Ramsey Post Office, Court Row, Ramsey. In addition, the ladies from the charity will be out and about during TT week visiting a variety of events to promote the sale of the badges.

Davy said 'We started selling the badges at the Northwest 200 where we sold an amazing 2,000 of them and we are hoping TT week will top that figure.'
