Friends are hopeful of positive outcome for pier

The Friends of Ramsey's Queen's Pier say they are optimistic there may be movement on the future of the structure before the end of the year.

Deputy chairman of the group Michael Tramontana says with the backing of over 80% of the people of the Island, and the decision of the House of Keys to set up a working group to investigate two options for restoring the structure, he remains hopeful of a positive outcome.

After last night's annual general meeting, Mr Tramontana told Manx Radio that, despite the credit crunch and subsequent economic crisis, the pier would be a good investment for the future:
