Stunning Performance from Australian Roots Star

by isleofman.com 27th May 2009

An intense performance from Australian singer-songwriter Jeff Lang brought the house down at the Centenary Centre last weekend (Saturday 23rd May).

Lang, accompanied by bassist Grant Cummerford, touched down for the one-off gig as part of his 'Half Seas Over' tour. It was the duo's second visit to the Island; last August, they played to an equally rapt audience at the Villa Marina's Promenade Suite.

Both concerts were organised by JonnoPromotions, whose hand-picked local support acts, Rhysical Pheck and Clara Barker, were also warmly received.

Lang's performance combined ferocious guitar work (acoustic and lap steel) with often sombre, bracingly original songwriting and sharp repartee between numbers.

For Lang's fans, it was a privilege to see the artist perform in such an intimate venue. The show also left those new to his talent wanting more.
