Typhoon storms to Robbie Corkish Memorial Trophy win

by isleofman.com 26th May 2009

Twenty entrants took part in the Douglas Snooker Club Robbie Corkish Memorial Trophy Competition at DSC on Sunday.

Following a round robin to whittle down the field of 20 Harry Barbour and Tony “Thai Typhoon” Davies made it to the best-of-three final.

Tony got off to a good start in the first frame with the help of a 32 break, which with other scores was enough to take it.

Frame two was a close affair with only a couple of points in it until the latter stages, when Tony built up an unassailable lead to win the frame and lift the trophy.

Tony duly filled the cup with one of each from the top shelf and a couple of cans of coke and passed it around.

Once empty it was refilled and Robbie was toasted well into the night.

Thanks to Chris Dagnall for organising the comp, to Bob Cowell for the free use of the tables and to all who entered, Robbie would have been proud.
