If you're looking for a challenge, there is still time to enter one of the toughest races the Island has to offer - and it's all for a good cause.
'Race the Sun' is a team relay race in which each team must complete a clockwise lap of the Island's 98 mile coastal footpath between sunrise and sunset.
The event, organised by the Isle of Man Children's Centre and sponsored by Mann Made, takes competitors over rugged cliff tops and mountains, through lush glens, and along isolated beaches.
A good number of teams have already signed up for the Big Day but there is still time to enter. If you want to find out more, the IOMCC is holding a Race the Sun open evening on Wednesday 27thMay at Douglas Yacht Club, starting at 6pm.
IOMCC Fundraising Co-ordinator Mark Eastham says 'It's a great opportunity to find out about Race the Sun or to assess how your plans are coming along and meet other teams.
'If you're struggling to find numbers, or you'd like to join another team, this is a great chance to meet other people in the same predicament and possibly join forces.'
The race is scheduled for 27th June (one of the longest days of the year) and gets underway at 4.47am. Teams must complete the course by 9.55pm. The event starts and finishes on Peel seafront, opposite the Sailing Club.
The course record, set at last year's inaugural event, is 15 hours and 37 minutes. This year, with a much larger entry anticipated, the winning time stands to be slashed!
'Quite simply, if you want to take part in an adventurous team event with a difference, then look no further than Race the Sun', adds Mark.
All funds raised will go towards Mobex, the IOMCC's mobile outdoor education facility for young people with a range of difficulties.
