DTL names its new public transport director

by isleofman.com 25th May 2009

The Department of Tourism and Leisure has appointed a new director of public transport.

The role is being taken on by Ian Longworth, who hails from Bolton.

DTL chiefs say the post is a reflection of the importance it places on the provision of bus services and heritage railways.

It says substantial investment in rail replacement on the Manx Electric Railway, and the recent purchase of eleven new buses, is part of its ongoing commitment and investment in the infrastructure.

The department is also undertaking consultation on a revised bus timetable, which could lead to the first major overhaul of schedules for over a decade.
