by isleofman.com 23rd May 2009

Sean Murphy enjoyed a double success at Saturday’s Jurby Road Races.

The Douglas rider took victory from Ryan Kneen and Andy Cowin in the opening solo centre championship race and later went onto record an emphatic victory in the 600 solos.

He finished 9.2 seconds ahead of Stephen Oates with Cowin again in third.

Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle took the honours in an exciting sidecar centre championship race.

After a disjointed start, former world champion Tim Reeves and passenger Patrick Farrance came home second with Neil Kelly and Jason O’Connor in third.

Jonathan Heginbotham pipped Andy Fenton in the clubman’s licence holders event. Leslie Corran was third.

Andy Cowin earned victory in the 400 solos from Brian Purdy and Carolynn Sells, with Pete Creer triumphing in the classic and modern class ahead of Steve Osborne and Chris Foster.

Stephen Oates captured victory in the final solo race of the day.

Paul Smyth was the runner-up with Irishman Myles Byrne edging a close battle for third place.
