IRIS criticism was 'misleading and inaccurate'

Damning criticism of the IRIS scheme from the United Kingdom's Marine Conservation Society is being dismissed as 'misleading and inaccurate' by Transport Minister David Anderson.

Only one of 18 Manx beaches achieved the UK's bathing water standard in tests carried out last summer, which the society said was disappointing given the amount of money which has been spent.

But Mr Anderson says the society's spokesman who appeared on Manx Radio yesterday hadn't done his homework, particularly when claiming IRIS had already cost ?170 million:
