The minister for health and social security has been drawing attention to some of the pressures on providing health care for residents of the Isle of Man.
Eddie Teare was responding to a written question at this month's sitting of Tynwald.
Mr Teare says spending by his department has increased significantly over the last four years to meet the rising cost of providing health care.
He says that during the period there has been an increase of nearly 3,000 patients, or 13 per cent , per year in the Accident and Emergency unit at Noble's Hospital.
Mr Teare says out-patient attendances have risen from just over 62,000 to nearly 68,000 a year since 2005.
And there has been a 24 per cent rise in the number of radiology examinations which, the minister says, now total in excess of 1.6 million a year.
The department's finances are likely to come under intense scrutiny, following the recent publication of a consultation document on the future funding of health and social care in the Isle of Man.
