by isleofman.com 21st May 2009

A professor of human resources and professional practice is to lead the independent review of the Whitley Council.

Dr Lynette Harris is based at Nottingham Business School, and is also an arbitrator and mediator for the United Kingdom employment relations body ACAS.

In March, Tynwald supported a Council of Ministers proposal for a full review of the constitution of the council, with a report back to the court in October.

The Whitley Council governs the pay, terms and conditions of most public service manual workers and craftsmen, employed by government departments and local authorities in the Isle of Man.
