MHK's concern over DTI shopping portal decision

A member of the House of Keys says he can't understand why the Department of Trade and Industry chose a firm from the United Kingdom to run an online shopping portal, aimed at boosting businesses in the Isle of Man.

The DTI is using a system known as the VENDA platform, and Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen is adding his concerns to those of Onchan member Peter Karran, over why local firms were left out of the tendering process.

Mr Cregeen says the Island has been promoting its e-commerce credentials, and prior to the VENDA announcement the DTI had said it was trying to protect local jobs:
