Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious accident on the main Douglas to Peel Road last night.

It happened at around 11.20pm, between the Highlander and Greeba Castle, and involved a red Ford Fiesta which was being driven by a woman from Peel.

She was still in Noble's Hospital earlier today, although the extent of her injuries isn't known.

A woman who was a passenger in the car was released after treatment.

The road was closed for three and a half hours while officers investigated the collision.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 631442 or Police Headquarters on 631212.
