Tynwald to be asked to confirm award

A man from Castletown is set to receive a prestigious award during the annual Tynwald ceremony at St John's, in July.

Subject to confirmation at this week's sitting of the court, Ian Qualtrough will be presented with the Tynwald Honour in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Manx life.

He would be the third person to receive the award.

Mr Qualtrough is a Friend of the Gaiety Theatre, a member of the Lhon Dhoo Male Voice Choir and a former president of the Isle of Man Beekeepers' Federation.

He says his nomination came as a real surprise:
