Commissioners oppose Dandara housing plans

A planning application by Dandara to build houses in Peel has come up against opposition from the town's commissioners.

The company initially sought permission to build 43 homes, but phases two and three have increased the total to around 300 dwellings.

The commissioners are objecting to the plans on the grounds there have been so many developments in the area the infrastructure is already creaking under the strain.

Chairman of the local authority Rodger Gimbert says the town can't cope with any more houses:
