Devil's music comes to local church!

by isleofman.com 17th May 2009

What used to be regarded as the devil's music is featuring in a Laxey church today.

A Jazz Service is being held at Laxey Methodist Church, with music provided by the Manx Jazz Kats and Rencell Singers.

It is being officiated by the Venerable Brian Partington, OBE, who is hoping to build on the success of a similar service held at the same venue last year.

Colin Clarke from the Jazz Kats says he wasn't sure the idea would catch on, but the services attract some different church-goers and have proved to be very popular (play audio file):

Start time for service: 11 am, with the band playing from 10.45.
