Liverpool drug dealer jailed for six years

by isleofman.com 15th May 2009

A 20 year-old man who brought more than ?55,000 worth of drugs to the Isle of Man to pay off a relatively small drug debt has been jailed for six years.

Scott Anthony Webster, from Crosby in Liverpool, was also banned from the Island for five years.

He admitted importing cocaine and heroin, possessing the drugs with intent to supply, and attempting to import and possess ecstasy with intent to supply.

Webster travelled to the Island from Heysham on December 21 and was arrested when he got off the ferry.

He immediately admitted his guilt and produced a bag of tablets with a street value of ?55,638.

Webster said he had travelled to the Island to pay off a drug debt of ?750 and told police he thought ecstasy was a legal, recreational drug.

Imposing a three year jail term, Deemster Doyle said it was important the message went out that admission of guilt at the first opportunity would help avoid even longer prison sentences.
