Fake goods seized from Island business

by isleofman.com 14th May 2009

The Office of Fair Trading has issued a fake goods warning, following the recent discovery of a haul of counterfeit items.

Trading Standards enforcement officers swooped on a business in the Island and found chargers for mobile phones and portable music players, batteries and fascias for mobile phones, earphones, lanyards and portable speakers.

The trader, who cooperated with officers and voluntarily surrendered the goods for disposal, was given a formal caution.

OFT chairman Bill Henderson says counterfeit goods are often substandard and can pose a real danger to the public.

He is urging local residents not to be fools by fake items and says: "if it looks too good to be true then it most probably is".
