Air passengers down, but some positive signs

The director of Isle of Man Airport says she is cautiously optimistic, despite another fall in passenger figures.

An 8.3 per cent drop in numbers was recorded last month, but it was less than expected.

Seven of the 20 routes showed increases, with the London market enjoying significant improvement.

There was also a notable increase in charter traffic.

While the majority of European airports are struggling to retain passengers in the grip of the current recession, Ann Reynolds believes the latest figures offer some hope of improvement in the coming months:
