Cervical cancer survivor supports vaccinations

A Ballaugh woman who beat cervical cancer says she will be putting her daughter forward for an upcoming health department vaccination programme.

Vicki Fleming spoke about her experience of the disease at a public health information evening for parents at QEII High School last month, and is due to do the same thing again at similar events in the next few weeks.

The injections protect against the HPV virus, which is responsible for 99% of cervical cancer cases, and will be available to girls on the Island in the 12 to 18 age group.
