'Terrorist attack' at the Villa Marina

"If you are prepared for the worst it stands you in good stead for any type of incident".

Those are the words of Chief Fire Officer Brian Draper, following a simulation of a terrorist attack, staged for the benefit hoteliers and shop owners.

The exercise, at the Villa Marina, was led by anti-terrorism experts from Jersey police and was also attended by all the Isle of Man's emergency services.

Mr Draper says the focus may have been on a pretty extreme situation, but much of what was discussed could easily be applied to other, less grave scenarios:
