Douglas coastguard rescue team was called out just after 8pm last night (Sunday) after concerns a group of four young people were in danger of being cut off by the tide on the Tower of Refuge.
They managed to make their own way ashore by wading through the water and were checked out by officers to make sure they were unharmed.
The coastguard’s stressing the tide around the Tower of Refuge can come in deceptively quickly and another 15 minutes would have made it virtually impossible to walk ashore.
If any member of the public observes a rescue or emergency situation around the Island’s coast they should dial 999 and ask for Coastguard.
