Island to feature in 'hidden Britain' series

by isleofman.com 9th May 2009

The Isle of Man could receive some useful publicity as a tourist destination on national television on Sunday evening.

Islands of Britain, presented by actor Martin Clunes, sets out to explore the 'hidden Britain'.

An ITV crew filmed here last August and the Island will feature in the second of three programmes.

It includes encounters with Loaghtan sheep and Manx cats, a tour of Tynwald, an interview with the Calf of Man warden and a meeting with Chief Minister Tony Brown.

Comments in a national magazine last week angered some local residents, with Clunes claiming the Island was full of 'smug' people who bragged about paying less tax than their counterparts in the United Kingdom.

He also criticised the lack of a national speed limit.
