A must for birds of prey enthusiasts, the Curraghs Wildlife Park will soon play host once more to thrilling falconry displays. On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May, Phil Gibbons of Ridgeside Falconry, and his daughter Emma, will be bringing a team of up to twelve birds of prey.
As well as flying displays, there will be the chance to see the birds - including falcons, hawks, owls and buzzards - at rest in a temporary 'mews'. Phil Gibbons is the Head Falconer of Ridgeside Falconry and the founder member of its professional display team, one of the largest in the UK. He is now established as one of the most experienced and dedicated falconers in the country.
Quintin Gill MHK, Political member for Department of Tourism and Leisure, said ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for people to be able to experience such a flying demonstration which will enable them to see these birds in the setting of the Wildlife Park.’
Over the weekend, flying displays will take place in the Park at 1pm and 3pm on both days. The birds will be on view on their perches and blocks for the rest of the time.
Normal entry fees to the Park will apply on both days. VIP tickets are available at ?50.00 per person which will include a hot buffet lunch, and the opportunity to talk to the falconers and get up close to some of the birds. There are a limited number of tickets available so it is advisable to book in advance.
