'Living Life' strategy isn't a way of saving money

A plan to move more vulnerable people in the Isle of Man into independent living is not a cost cutting exercise, according to Minister for Health and Social Security Eddie Teare.

The DHSS has unveiled a 'Living Life to the Full' strategy, designed for the elderly and people with learning difficulties.

Numbers in the categories are expected to rise in the coming years, and the department says plans need to be in place.

Some homes may be closed as a result of the strategy, but Mr Teare is stressing it won't be the big residential ones:
