Cleveland Medal for Mandy Griffin

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2009

Mezzo soprano Mandy Griffin has won the Cleveland Medal for the second time in three years.

She took the Manx Musical Festival's top prize at the Villa Marina Royal Hall.

The Douglas singer faced stiff competition from Jane Mayne, Jane Corkill, Glynn Morris, Ernie Thorn and John Qualtrough.

And she was thrilled after coming out on top.

Also at the Guild, the junior equivalent of the Cleveland Medal - the Sheffield Plate – was won by Rachel Hopkinson of East Baldwin.

Rachel is a pupil of former Cleveland Medallist Christine Bregazzi and the current Young Singer of Mann.
