Experts from UK to identify 'mystery' powder

by isleofman.com 1st May 2009

Specialist officers from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are flying to the Island to examine the substance found in an envelope at the Alliance and Leicester in Prospect Hill, Douglas this morning.

The discovery of an unidentified white powder prompted a full turnout of the Island's emergency services.

A section of Prospect Hill was cordoned off and members of staff were evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure.

The road reopened after about two hours, but police, fire officers and the Civil Defence Unit remain at the scene.
