DHSS unveils 'independent living' strategy

Plans are underway to get more vulnerable people in the Isle of Man into independent living.

The Department of Health and Social Security has announced a 'Living Life to the Full' strategy, designed for the elderly and people with learning disabilities.

It will involve working with voluntary organisations, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Local Government to help find accommodation and even secure employment for those who need it.

Social Services spokesman Tony Lever says it's important to get as many people as possible living in their own homes:
