Tourists waiting to return from Mexico

by isleofman.com 28th April 2009

The Manx branch of Thomas Cook has confirmed a number of tourists from the Isle of Man are currently in Mexico and emergency flights back to the United Kingdom are being arranged.

Holidaymakers have become concerned about travel to the central American country following an outbreak of swine flu and tourists from the Island are being given advice from travel agents and the government.

All Thomas Cook holidays to Mexico have been suspended, and tourists who have already booked are being offered a full refund or transfer to another destination free of charge.

Isle of Man travel agent Richmond Travel has several clients booked to travel to Mexico in September, and are watching events closely.

Similarly, Regency Travel has no one in Mexico at the moment, although the company does have bookings for July.

So far, no cases of swine flu have been reported in the Isle of Man, although two have been confirmed in the United Kingdom.
