Did ticket demand cause phone problems?

by isleofman.com 24th April 2009

Manx Telecom is apologising to customers after a problem with some fixed-line numbers on the Island earlier today.

Numbers beginning with 66 to 69 were affected, aswell as those starting with 81, 83, 85, 87 and 89.

Engineers had fixed the problem by lunchtime, but there was still a large amount of traffic which, the company said, might result in some delays to calls.

It's believed the problem was linked to the overwhelming telephone demand for tickets for the Kaiser Chiefs concert, at the Villa Marina in August.
