MLC suggests solution to greenways problem

A member of the Legislative Council says the government should try to designate an area for off-road enthusiasts to stop them churning up sensitive greenways.

Alex Downie says the problems are made worse because people travel from the United Kingdom to ride off-road, without knowing where they should or shouldn’t be.

He says opening up a specific area, such as South Barrule, would mean enthusiasts could get on with their hobby without damaging the environment.

Mr Downie says some private areas currently used are less than ideal:
