Mortar rounds destroyed in controlled explosion

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2009

Bomb disposal experts have dealt with the explosives which were found in the south of the Island recently.

The twelve mortar rounds were discovered in the area of Spanish Head on Tuesday, leading to the sealing off of roads and footpaths in the area.

The mortars were destroyed in a controlled explosion and all routes are now open to the public again.

Anybody who finds such items, or any suspicious object, should ring one of the local police stations as soon as possible.
