Marshals appeal for Volunteers

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2009

The Isle of Man T.T. Marshals Association is appealing for volunteers and existing members to sign-on for duty at T.T.2009.

The organisation is keen to reinforce the message about road closures being the same as in the previous two years.

It had been proposed that roads close an hour earlier on four nights of practice week, to allow non-T.T. riders enough time to qualify for the TTxGP race.

However, after a week of negative reaction to the idea, the Isle of Man T.T. Co-ordinating Committee, chaired by Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle, announced a U-turn last Friday.

Roads will close at 5pm on the Mountain and six o'clock for the rest of the course.

Isle of Man T.T. Marshals Association Chairman Bill Carden says they made it clear right from the start that they are stretched enough with the current times:-

You can find out more details about being a marshal from the Association's office at the back of the T.T. Grandstand.
