Growing fuel is not a new concept - Gawne

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says the idea of the Isle of Man growing its own fuel is as much about the past as it is thinking about the future.

His department is to grow willow coppices to produce biomass fuel which could, one day, help meet the Island’s energy needs.

A trial crop has been planted at Meary Veg in Santon, with a second to follow at Knockaloe Farm.

Mr Gawne says growing crops for energy isn't exactly a new idea:
