Chip pan warning after incident in Douglas

Firefighters were called to a house in Douglas after a chip pan caught light.

The incident happened on Clifton Terrace in Douglas and two fire engines were sent to the incident.

The householder managed to put out the blaze with a fire blanket before the crews arrived, but the kitchen was smokelogged and needed to be cleared.

Fire officers say chip pans should never be left unattended of filled more than a third full of oil.

The alarm was raised at about 6.30pm yesterday.
