First rock barge arrives from Norway

A ?45 million scheme to extend the main runway at Ronaldsway has reached an important stage. 

The project will involve the construction of longer runway safety areas to meet new recommended international safety standards, and will include the creation of a promontory out into the sea.

The first of the barges carrying boulders for the scheme arrived earlier this month.
