The Department of Transport is apologising in advance for disruption which will be caused by essential roadworks which are due to get underway today.
The Mountain Road will be closed between 9.30am and 4.30pm every day for up to a fortnight, so maintenance work can be carried out ahead of TT 2009.
There is provision for the arrangement to continue until Sunday, May 3, but if the weather is good the job could be completed within eight days.
When conditions prevent work from taking place, the road will be open as normal.
The department hopes motorists will appreciate the need for such work to be carried out on closed roads.
