Homeless shelter to continue after trial period

by isleofman.com 17th April 2009

Homeless charity Graih has been granted an extension to the planning approval it was given to run a shelter for the homeless in Derby Road, Douglas.

In October last year, the charity was given permission to provide temporary overnight accommodation for nine people, for a trial period of six months.

The homeless shelter will now remain open until October 31.

Initially, the Department of Local Government and the Environment restricted Graih to accommodating six people, but an appeal to increase the number was successful.
