Audiologist - Mandate interview

by isleofman.com 17th April 2009

Hearing loss can be regarded as an occupational hazard in the radio industry, with DJs and news staff using headphones, often with the volume at high levels, for many hours a day.

But generally do people just accept hearing loss without doing anything about it?

One place where you can find out what your hearing is like, and what you can do about it, is Village Walk in Onchan, where there is an array of health practitioners.

There are opticians, a chiropodist, a colonic clinic, a complementary remedies centre and a doctor's surgery and pharmacy!

Among the specialist centres is the Manx Hidden Hearing Clinic, part of an organisation which has around 80 outlets throughout the British Isles.

It's run by Guy Wolstencroft, a member of the Society of Hearing Audiologists, who told Marian Kenny the firm has been on the Island for some time (play extended audio file):
