Civil service pay freeze proposed

by isleofman.com 16th April 2009

It looks as if wages for politicians and civil servants won't be going up this year, after the Civil Service Commission announced a proposed pay freeze.

The CSC told staff yesterday it had taken the decision "due to the prevailing economic climate".

It's understood the proposal would affect all white-collar workers, from chief executives down to office juniors, as well as Tynwald members.

However, there's no word yet on whether manual workers would be included.
