The man carrying out the United Kingdom's review into the Crown dependencies says there is no reason for the Isle of Man to be wary of his investigation.
Michael Foot was on the Island yesterday, meeting senior politicians and representatives from the private sector, as he undertook initial work on the examination of British territories announced by Gordon Brown.
His interim report will be published on the UK's budget day later this month, after he has been to each of the nine jurisdictions involved in the review.
Mr Foot was asked by Manx Radio whether people in the Isle of Man had anything to worry about.
He said:
"No, I don't think they have.
"We all face, from New York and London downwards, a very challenging time for the financial sector.
"If, for no other reason, it would be sensible to look at the sorts of issues that there are and the way in which people are going about it.
"But the review is structured to make sure that the responsibility for local events lies with those jurisdictions, as it always has done."
