A Manx climber is hoping to become the second local man to reach the summit of Everest.
John Crellin has been thwarted in his previous attempts to reach the top of the world's most famous mountain, but he has now left base camp on his latest expedition.
He has spent ten years in his quest to climb the highest peaks in each of the seven continents, and only Everest has eluded him.
John set off from the Island at the end of last month, and before he left said he hoped this time to be able to fly the Three Legs of Mann at the summit (play attached audio file):
You can hear more of that interview on this evening's Perspective, with Roger Watterson, who will also be joined live in the studio by Phil Drowley, the first, and so far only, Manxman to climb Everest.
