Palatine Health Centre opening soon

by isleofman.com 15th April 2009

The Palatine Group Practice will move to its new home in Braddan next weekend (April 25 and 26).

The Department of Health and Social Security says the Palatine Health Centre will open on Monday, April 27.

The purpose-built facility will replace the surgery in Murrays Road, Douglas and the DHSS says it will be able to offer better services for patients.

The department says the project was finished ahead of schedule and within budget.

Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

The new surgery is almost three times bigger and will have four full-time and two part-time GPs, five nurses and 16 administrative staff.

The new building for the practice's 9,500 patients is behind Newlands on the edge of the Noble's Hospital site.

A spokesman for the practice says appointments will be restricted next week and the week after, as staff deal with computer and telephone upgrades.

Patients have been asked to avoid contacting the surgery for routine matters over the fortnight. There will be no pre-booked appointments in the first week, and only a limited number the following week.
